Elder Program
In collaboration with area elder organizations, we provide many services for our Cambodian, Chinese, and Vietnamese elders. The elders group meets monthly and has a nurse check their blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight, etc. The elders group shares a meal and has time to socialize. We bring in speakers to talk to them about health issues and services available to them as seniors. They also plan field trips. We celebrate both Vietnamese and Cambodian New Years.![]()

The Asian Center outreach workers and citizenship coordinator are certified SMP counselors and work to empower seniors to prevent healthcare errors, fraud and abuse. As certified SHINE counselors they assist clients and their caregivers with questions concerning Medicare parts A,B,C and D and provide health insurance information and counseling.
The Asian Center also receives funding from the Program to Enhance Elders refugee Services (PEERS) through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants. Refugees ages 60 and older who are not yet United States citizens receive support and assistance from the outreach workers to reduce the incidence of of service gaps for elder refugees.
